Artist, Susan Tammany believes that art is alchemy, an activity that takes life - biological, spiritual, waking and dreamt - and transforms it into images that represent the staining of the soul which is the activity of experience.

In alchemy, there is the wet principle (feminine), the dry principle (masculine) and the viscous principle (androgyny) which are represented by the various media.

Water color and water-based paints are the feminine wet; pastel, the masculine dry; oil paint, the androgynous viscous.

Hence Susan pursues all media to express the totality of human experience in the conviction that life cannot be constrained.
